Attorneys Laine Baker and Bonner Gonzalez Join Firm

McAfee & Taft, Oklahoma’s largest law firm, has further expanded its Oklahoma City office with the addition of associate attorneys Laine E. Baker and Bonner J. Gonzalez.

Laine Baker is a corporate lawyer whose practice encompasses a broad range of commercial transactions and the general representation of businesses in matters involving commercial finance, real estate, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, stock sales and purchases, corporate governance and general corporate operations.  Her clients include both public and private companies engaged in a wide range of industries.

Prior to joining McAfee & Taft, Baker was an associate with another Oklahoma City corporate law firm for three years. 

Baker is a 2005 summa cum laude graduate from the Oklahoma City University School of Law, where she was named “Oklahoma City University Alumni Outstanding Graduate,” was president of the Student Bar Association, founded the Corporate Law Association and was the recipient of numerous honors, including the Real Property Section of the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Award for Excellence in Real Property Law and numerous CALI Awards.

Baker is an active member of the Young Lawyers Division of the Oklahoma County Bar Association, serving on its board of directors and chairing the YLD 2008 golf tournament benefiting the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.

Bonner Gonzalez is a corporate and tax attorney who represents individuals, privately held businesses and public companies in the areas of business and tax planning, tax-advantaged activities, complex business transactions, family wealth and estate planning, and local, state and federal taxation.

His experience includes structuring complex business entities and tax-exempt organizations, completing stock and asset acquisitions, working on complex mergers and acquisitions, and advising clients as to the best structure in which to hold existing assets.  He has also successfully represented clients in tax disputes with the Oklahoma Tax Commission and Internal Revenue Service.

A portion of Gonzalez’s practice is also dedicated to family wealth and estate planning and has included the utilization of a number of sophisticated wealth transfer tax planning strategies.

Gonzalez is a 2004 honors graduate from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, where he was named to the Order of the Coif.  He also holds a master of laws degree in taxation from New York University.  Prior to joining McAfee & Taft, Gonzalez was an associate with another Oklahoma City corporate law firm for four years.
