McAfee & Taft's Aviation Practice Continues to Grow

Paralegals Anderson, Nash, Singleton Join Firm

Oklahoma City, OK - August 14, 2008

McAfee & Taft, Oklahoma’s largest law firm, has further expanded its worldwide aircraft financing, title and registration practice with the addition of Rachel Anderson, Niki Nash and Cheryl Singleton as paralegals. The group remains one of the largest of its kind in the United States.  Having nearly doubled in size since 2006, the group currently employs 30 attorneys and staff and is the largest aviation law practice in the state of Oklahoma.

Rachel Anderson ensures that client interests in aircraft, engines and helicopters are protected and in compliance with the Cape Town Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment and the Aircraft Protocol.  Her specific responsibilities include obtaining Priority Search Certificates, requesting and consenting to Professional User Authority, and registering all forms of interest on the International Registry.

Rachel’s previous career experience includes examining titles at the Federal Aviation Administration Aeronautical Center and filing and reviewing documents for two Oklahoma City-based aircraft title companies.  Born in Oklahoma, Rachel grew up in central Florida where she attended Hillsborough Community College.

Niki Nash is responsible for preparing aircraft closing documents for filing with the Federal Aviation Administration, verifying documents have been posted by the FAA to the proper records, reviewing and compiling FAA records for outstanding/resolved title and lien issues, and corresponding with involved parties to resolve document issues.  Additionally, she works with firm attorneys to ensure that client interests in aircraft, engines and helicopters are protected and in compliance with the Cape Town Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment and the Aircraft Protocol.

Prior to joining McAfee & Taft, Niki worked as a paralegal for a small Oklahoma City law firm and as a legal secretary for one of Oklahoma’s largest workers’ compensation insurance carriers.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of South Carolina and her paralegal certification from Metropolitan College in Oklahoma City.

Cheryl Singleton brings more than 15 years of legal experience to the firm.  She works directly with McAfee & Taft’s aviation attorneys to ensure that client interests in aircraft, engines and helicopters are protected and in compliance with the Cape Town Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment and the Aircraft Protocol.  Much of her time is devoted to preparing and filing the documentation necessary to protect those interests.

Cheryl’s diverse career experience includes serving as an executive secretary to the general counsel of a major Oklahoma retailing company, a law firm administrator, and a paralegal to attorneys engaged in a variety of legal fields.  She is a former member of the Association of Legal Administrators where she served as vice president, chapter secretary and CLM study group chairperson.  In 2001, Cheryl graduated from Oklahoma City Community College with an associate’s degree and has completed 65 hours of course study requirements in the Certified Legal Management (CLM) program.
